TCHG-0005 Screen Baller Reclassified as a Component
Corrects a misclassification introduced in TCHG-0004. Changelog records are append-only, so TCHG-0004 stands as written and this record supersedes it on this point.
- Retired
devices/TED-0040(FlowerPot Screen Baller). Part 3408 is a diffuser insert, not a device model: its listing sold only the diffuser and a 3/4” titanium screen — no top or nut, nothing that forms a working head — and the same part is sold today as the “22mm Standard Diffuser”, shipping inside the B1 and B2 heads. A device record double-counted a part already recorded as a spec-table row on the heads that contain it. - TED-0040 is retired and must never be reused. Canonical IDs are immutable; a withdrawn record burns its number.
- TCHG-0004 had recorded part 3408 in “two roles across time”, as both a model and a component. That framing is withdrawn. A part is classified once.
- Added rule TAX-06 to the Device Architecture Taxonomy: a marketing name does not promote a component to a model. The discriminator is what a listing sold, not what it was called — a listing offering the parts needed to complete a working head is an assembly and may earn a record; a listing offering only an insert that drops into a head the buyer already owns is a component. TAX-06 is a review rule rather than a machine check, because deciding it requires reading the manufacturer’s listing.
- Retained
devices/TED-0039(Baller Head Assembly, part 3405), which passes the same test: its listing sold top-with-dish variants and could be bought as a complete head. - Rewired the lineage: the B2 now
supersedesthe Baller directly, with the Screen Baller described in prose on both records as the interstitial step that holds no record of its own. - Recorded the exclusion in the family lineage guide’s “deliberately not modeled” table and in the manufacturer record, so the omission reads as a decision.
