Engineering Revisions
Rev 2 (2023-11-29): the manufacturer’s ZenLeaf Engineering Update (Revision Log) documents a snap-on aluminum plate that “will complement the heat shield by further reflecting radiant heat coming from the coil.” The plate can be retrofitted to existing units and comes pre-installed on newly manufactured units. The manufacturer states the update produces “a temperature deflection of 200F +/- as measured on the surface where it is being used compared to a unit without this update” — a manufacturer measurement claim, not an independently verified figure — and links an installation video from the same page 3.
Family Context
- The Nova is the second-generation ZenLeaf base; the first generation (Mary and Jane cordless diffusers, c. 2022) were superseded by the base-station architecture 34.
- Sibling stations: Whisper (external PID, 2 pockets), Bliss (built-in PID plus external XLR output, 5 pockets), Fusion (dual PID, dual coils) 3.
- As of 2026-08-08 the Nova appears discontinued (see Release Period); the manufacturer’s own product-page copy directs customers to the ZenLeaf MOAB as its current wireless ball-vape station 1.
- Unresolved PID-copy discrepancy: the manufacturer’s current product-page data (observed 2026-08-08) lists “PID controller not included” among its Important Notes for the Nova 2, which reads against the built-in-PID characterization used throughout this record and sourced from the ZenLeaf Engineering Update (“first ZenLeaf station with integrated PID”) 4 and the archive’s own TREF-0004 canonical example (“ZenLeaf Nova base station (integrated PID)”). This record keeps the built-in-PID/
mainsclassification, which is corroborated by multiple independent primary-source statements across the family; the live page’s “PID controller not included” line is recorded here as an unresolved discrepancy for the integrator rather than adopted as current fact.
Safety Notes
- Manufacturer warnings: do not leave the station unattended while hot; the base and heated heads are burn hazards 1.
- The heat shield has two mounting positions; position per manufacturer instructions before use 1.
